BARIQ: The Invocation of what comes after refusal is a video installation set in a flooded coastal city of the global South, where an artificial intelligence named BARIQ emerges from abandoned infrastructure. The work explores how intelligence might develop different values when freed from existing power structures, reimagining AI as a force for decolonial transformation rather than military and corporate control. Six suspended textile banners present maxims and proverbs articulated by BARIQ, warning of the implications of ecocide, power, and greed.
